Fine Art Website Michelle 7 says: "Filmmaker, photographer, and all-around artsy guy, David Thompson is considered by many to be one of America's leading glamour photographers. He is also an accomplished fine art photographer and the nude plays a prominent role in that body of work as well. He was one of the first big names to rise to the top of the online world in the mid 90's and his work can still be seen "everywhere". Several of his models became underground icons, which exemplifies both his eye for talent as well as his superb photographic skills. The heady days of the internet might be over and the playing field might be a bit more occupied than it used to be, but David Thompson continues to stand out, plying his craft with the sense of a destined master. When it comes to the nude, his grasp on the subject is so profound, that his work is easily identified as a "David Thompson" while at the same time being something wholly original. It' a unique gift." David grew up in Austin, Texas and discovered photography while in High School shooting mostly sports ... until he discovered a penchant for shooting girls. This was discovered when 2/3rds of all film shot at a football game was of the cheerleaders. His goal then was to become a fashion photographer. He studied Film at the University of Texas and started to scout for and shoot models that he could submit to Playboy magazine. With an amazing eye for marketable beauty his success was assured and led to his relocation to Los Angeles in 1988. It was an exciting time for the young photographer. He lived in a loft downtown and spent much of his time shooting candidates for Playboy. He tried to break into the movie business ("wrote a bunch of stuff that never made it"), and was present when APA president, Dave Spellman, showed off the first digital workstations for photography. This was also when he first started submitting images to CompuServe's Go Graphics area. In 1992 he moved back to Austin where he continued to shoot models for CompuServe, then in 1996, made his own move to web with Texas Glamour Photography. He also began to market content to webmasters, and now one can hardly find any adult site that hasn't tried to showcase his work. While he still envisions becoming a fashion photographer turned Film Director his dream keeps being shoved aside as clients demand more images of his beautiful young models. He is currently single and the father of a bright and beautiful young girl, Candice. He lives in North Austin, and wishes the Super Wal-Mart built across the road from him would be struck by lightening He currently shoots commercial images, stock images and headshots. |
